The 2nd international conference “Road traffic safety and transport challenges in south east of Europe (SEE)”

Pristina, 22 and 23 January 2015

On January 22-23 in Pristina, was held the 2nd International Conference “Road traffic safety and transport challenges in South East of Europe (SEE)”. This conference brought together in one place institutions and stakeholders from Kosovo with those of Eastern European states. There were about 200 participants and 30 panelists from institutions in the country and Europe present.

The conference was organized by the Kosovo Motorization Association (AMRKS) and Tempulli College. It was coordinated by International Road Union Academy (IRU) from Geneva-Swiss and supported by European Transport Safety Council (ETSC) from Brussels-Belgium.

The opening of conference was attend by high-level representatives of the state as Mr. Ferid Agani –Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, Mr. Shpend Ahmeti – Mayor of Pristina, Faton Abazi – Executive Director -Kosovo Insurance Bureau. Also there were representatives from the region as well, Macedonia, Albania and international collaborators from Austria, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland.

The main topic of the first day was the presentation of the project SEED (South East Europe Development of Road Transport) sponsored by the EU, the project aims training and upgrading the technical skills of instructors that provide initial and recurrent training for professional drivers in the region SEE, as well as the mutual recognition of qualifications and standards of environmental care. Among others, members of the panel for this day were representatives of the IRU Academy, Chamber of Commerce, Promotrans Group – France, AMERIT, Auto – Moto Association of Macedonia, Dean of Tempulli College, UP, UPT.

The second day of the conference was reserved for discussion and exchange of ideas between local and international specialist to discuss on challenges related to road safety, accident prevention, and continuous improvement of road infrastructure, transport, car insurance, introduction of models and successful implementation of various activities for road safety.

During this conference the representative of Auto Moto Association Macedonia – AMSM signed a cooperation agreements with the Kosovo Association of motorization AMRKS, with the main purpose for joint activities for road safety.

At the end of conference Mr. Muhamed Krasniqi presented the recommendations that emerged from the conference. These recommendations will be delivered to the country and international institutions, with the purpose for all to work together in order to achieve improvement on road safety.
