During the press conference organized by the Kosovo Police, where the panelists were the Kosovo Police, representatives of Tempulli College, OSCE and ICITAP, it was said that the purpose of this joint activity is to influence the level of awareness of some citizens that participate in road traffic. Colonel Sheremet Ahmeti from the Road Traffic Division of the Kosovo Police, stated that road safety in Kosovo is a major concern as the consequences that are being caused are painful and severe.
“Road safety in Kosovo is a very big concern, I can say that we are not at all satisfied with the situation what is now under the roads of Kosovo and the consequences that are caused are painful and very serious. Let’s start comparing the situation of last year with this year in terms of security, especially we have an increase of victims or people who lose their lives on the streets of Kosovo and that increase is around 10 percent.
While the creator of this campaign, Mr. Muhamed Krasniqi, who is also the leader of the Kosovo Forum for Road Safety, said that it is an activity that unites Kosovo with all other countries in activities to prevent and reduce traffic accidents.
“Do not drop the work so far” is a public call to all traffic participants to respect traffic signs. It is a call for a more cultured, more responsible behavior for all traffic participants and on the other hand it is a call to government institutions for an action and immediate action is required in order to increase road safety because it is a great concern, “he said.

Due to speeding, in the period January-December 2015, were caused 397 traffic accidents and 142.573 people have been detained for speeding.
Driving under the influence of alcohol
In the period January-December 2015 in Kosovo 115 accidents have occurred due to driving under the influence of alcohol, while 589 people were detained while driving under the influence of alcohol.
Not keeping a safe distance while driving
By not keeping a safe distance while driving during the period January-December 2015 in Kosovo have occurred 3,062 accidents, while for not keeping a safe distance while driving 1,775 people have been detained.
